barbacoa steak tacos: slow cooker

Ingredients

  • 3-4 lbs. of your favorite strip steak 
  • Salt, Pepper, Steak Seasoning
  • 3-4 cloves garlic (pressed)
  • ¼ Cup adobo sauce (from canned chipotle peppers)
  • ¼ Cup apple cider vinegar 
  • ¼ Cup fresh lime juice 
  • 1 TBSP cumin 
  • 1 TBSP oregano 
  • 1 tsp paprika 
  • 1 tsp ground cloves 
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon 
  • 1 bay leaf 
  • 1 Cup beef broth 
  • 1/2 Onion, sliced
  • Tortillas and taco toppings, your choice!


Directions

  1. Season 3-4 lbs. of your favorite strip steak (we used New York Strip) with salt, pepper, and steak seasoning. 
  2. Whisk together the sauce: 3-4 cloves garlic (pressed), ¼ C. adobo sauce (from canned chipotle peppers), ¼ C. apple cider vinegar ¼ C. fresh lime juice 1 T. cumin 1 T. oregano 1 t. paprika 1 t. ground cloves ½ t. ground cinnamon 1 bay leaf 1 C. beef broth 
  3. Layer ½ a sliced onion in your slow cooker, add the seasoned steaks, pour the sauce over, and top with cilantro sprigs and a few pats of butter. 
  4. Cover and cook on low for 5-7 hours (or high for 3-4 hours). 
  5. Slice the cooked steak diagonally across the grain and return it to the slow cooker to keep warm. 🌟 Serve & Enjoy: Spoon that tender, flavorful barbacoa steak into tortillas and top with your favorites—think fresh salsa, queso fresco, avocado, and a squeeze of lime!
